A little Midwest

I’m finishing the first little casein in this group - I almost finished this one today. I was in the mood for some clear skies — blue skies, that type of feeling. I’ve always loved industrial subjects and the midwest farmland has some wonderful imagery. My plan is to do three small caseins, each about 9” x 15” — all three images are already selected.
Usually, one painting of an idea isn’t enough for me. I like to work in little series, often 3 or 5 paintings that share the same theme. I like to explore an idea that way and it often takes several pieces before I feel like I’ve gotten what I wanted from it.
And of course, a second set of 3 or 5 often follows. It might be a mind game — committing to 10 or 15 pieces in a series is overwhelming. Smaller goals probably work better for me.
Tomorrow I’ll start the drawing for the second piece.
