Carm in Charge

Carm was front and center today. All day. Maybe she sensed that SOMEBODY needed to take control! I came back from the Keys with a terrible cold and know from experience that I can’t work with wax until my congestion is gone. So, I thought I’d work in casein for a week. Well, that plan bit the dust when I discovered I was out of illustration board. I placed my order and it won’t arrive until the 24th.
So, I decided place an orders and frame a recent group of finished encaustics. Today, Carm stepped in to direct my work.

She patrolled, sniffed, and prowled in and around my pieces as I glued backing boards and framed. Carm is an amazingly dominant cat. I’m actually in awe of her personality - I’d love to have known her as a kitten. I wonder if she was hell on wheels from the time she was born.

She took a little nap while the the backing boards were weighed down by the heavy art books. Heavy reading isn’t her thing. And she was storing up energy for her favorite activity which was to come…..

Stalking Simple, Sweet George! She LOVES to hunt him down and unlike the other boy cats, he gives her a the fight she’s looking for. He actually seems to win — I rarely see these show downs but she has a cut ear right now, last week she had a slash across her nose. A few months ago he bit a chunk out of her back leg. Simple George has a history of not backing down to anybody - he’s not guilt free.

Somehow, I managed to get some work done. Three pieces are framed and two are ready to pop in their frames when the shipment arrives. I’m determined to stay out of the wax until next week so I won’t end up with pneumonia for the third year in a row. Tomorrow I’ll work on a drawing, some paperwork, and maybe clean the studio a bit.
Carm says good night.
